When you’re refinishing wheels, the big fork in the road is diamond-cut vs powder coating. Both look fantastic — but they’re built for different goals.
Diamond-cut (machined face)
A CNC lathe skims a micro-layer off the wheel face to create that bright, precise, two-tone factory look, then it’s sealed with clear coat.
- Best for: restoring the exact OEM machined look
- Watch-out: a face can only be re-cut once or twice before it gets too thin
Powder coating
A dry finish applied electrostatically and cured in an oven — thick, uniform and seriously durable.
- Best for: daily drivers, colour changes, and standing up to South Florida salt air
- Bonus: it can be stripped and redone as many times as you want
So which should you pick?
Want your wheels to look exactly like they did off the showroom floor? Diamond-cut. Want maximum durability, a colour change, or a finish that shrugs off coastal roads? Powder coat. For a lot of daily drivers in Broward, powder coat is the smarter long-term call — but we’ll always tell you what fits your wheel and how you drive.
